The ProMaster Master-Keying 7 server needs to be replaced.
PM7: All versions
When a computer has PM7 installed as a server it also holds the product activation and the database.
All workstations configuration files will be pointing to this database.
Contact WH Software and perform the product deactivation on the old server described here: Product-deactivation
Login to https://activate.whsoftware.com and download the latest full setup for PM7.
Install PM7 on the new server, selecting the option as a upgrade, to prevent installing a new database.
On the old server perform a backup using the backup program PM7Back.exe which is located in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\WH Software\PM7
If you are using the Docstore, ensure the tick is turned on for this option when doing the backup.
Ensure there are no errors during the backup process.
Copy the backup file(s) from the old server to the new server.
On the new server, run PM8Back.exe and perform a restore selecting the backup being restored is the main database option using PM7Back.exe.
On the new server, run PM7.exe and login as Admin, then from the Admin menu choose Document Store Database.... You will need to change the name of the server from the old to the new server name and click OK.
Go back to the PM7Backup.exe and do a restore selecting the backup being restored is the DocStor database option.
Login as Admin again and select the Admin menu choose Document Store Database.... Click Test Database Connection... and run through all the tests.
On the new server, login as a user. PM7 will then prompt you to activate. Follow the prompts and activate the software.
You will need to make sure your ‘Support and Maintenance’ is current before installing a newer version of this product.
Your new server should now be complete. On each workstation you will need to modify the configuration file to point at the new server. The configuration file is called PM7.ini and is located:
For Windows XP machines, the configuration file is located in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\WH Software\PM7
For Windows Vistam 8, 8, 8.1 and 10 machines, the configuration file is located in:
C:\ProgramData\WH Software\PM7
Make sure you can see hidden files and folders.
