If you configure your ProMaster Key Manager 8 "KM8" and your locksmith configures their ProMaster Master-Keying 8 "PM8" then your locksmith can send updates to you using the ProMaster publishing service instead of emailing the update files.
Faster for you.
Faster for your PM8 locksmith.
More secure than email, and the updates show up in KM8 without you needing to check your email.
Your KM8 is paired to your PM8 locksmith with a unique encryption key.
The data transferred to KM8 through this mechanism is identical to that which is send when the locksmith emails an update file to the you.
KM8 publishing is available to KM8 users on either edition (Basic or Premium).
It is a no-cost service that is available any time that your KM8 support and maintenance and your locksmith's PM8 support and maintenance are active.
WH Software operates a publishing server through which published KM8 data is transferred. We host this service on Amazon EC2.
When a locksmith adds your KM8 to their PM8 the locksmith is given a time limited 12 character pairing code to read to you and you must enter that code into your KM8, and this establishes the authenticity of that customer.
You may configure publishing relationships with multiple locksmiths if you receive data from more than one.
All system information sent by the locksmith is encrypted to your KM8.
Each KM8 encryption key is transferred securely and can be decoded only by knowing the ephemeral pairing code.
At no time are the encryption keys available to us or anyone else so there is no way that the published system can ever be retrieved and read by any KM8 other than you.
System information is encrypted using AES 256
Data transfer from the locksmith's PM8 to the publishing server and then to your KM8 is encrypted again by using HTTPS data transfers.
The publishing service that is used to transfer the encrypted data is accessed via https://pmpublish01.whsoftware.com (on port 443) so the computer doing the publishing communication must have access to this internet destination.
